Japan: Pawprint Pathways 2017

For our first trip to Japan, we’re going on an animal-themed tour!

Day 1: Hiroshima > Miyajima > Okunoshima

After a long day of travel the previous day, we woke up in Hiroshima, ready to begin our first adventure across Japan. We visited two islands today: Miyajima (aka “deer island”) and Okunoshima (aka “bunny island). Let’s see all the animals!

Day 2: Okunoshima > Hiroshima

We’re off to Hiroshima!

Day 3: Hiroshima > Osaka

Time to check out what Osaka has to offer!

Day 4: Daytrip to Kyoto

Took a daytrip over to Kyoto to see Tenryu-ji Temple, Fushimi Inari shrine, and everything else Kyoto has to offer!

Day 5: Daytrip to Kobe

Today was a free day, so Cathy, Nick, and I decided to head to Kobe!

Day 6: Osaka > Matsumoto

On to Matsumoto: the second largest city in Nagano Prefecture.

Day 7: Matsumoto > Yamanouchi

Time for the next animal on the list: monkeys!

Day 8: Yamanouchi > Sendai

We left the mountains behind and returned to somewhere more populated: Sendai.

Day 9: Sendai > Matsushima > Ishinomaki

We’re headed to the sea! (And accidentally showed up a day early to our next inn).

Day 10: Ishinomaki > Tashirojima > Sendai

Do you like cats? We sure do! Also, featuring a bird that stole a lunch.

Day 11: Sendai > Tokyo

Time to head back to Tokyo and do all the touristy things.

Day 12: Tokyo

A few more animals to round out the trip. Wish we didn’t have to leave!
